Information for bidders

How do I submit bids?

Bidders who attend our auctions receive a bidder number after registration. Bidders who are unable to attend our auctions in person may submit bids in several different ways.

a) by e-mail
b) by post
c) by fax
d) via the Internet using our online catalogue
e) by phone
f) by joining the live online auction to submit bids or just watch

All bids are processed with utmost care, but without guarantee, and are subject to a service charge and the statutory VAT. e) Bidding by phone

Of course, you can also participate in our actions by phone. To do so, please register with us at least 24 hours before the auction. For this purpose, we need the following information:

  • Your full name and address
  • Your phone number on which you are available on the day of the auction

When registering for bidding by phone, you automatically bid the reserve indicated in the catalogue. If we are unable to reach you at the time the lot is put up for auction and there are no other bids, you will receive the lot at the reserve. You are also very welcome to specify a maximum bid price in the field provided for bids, which we will use as a safety bid to protect your interests in the event that the connection cannot be established. New customers who intend to bid on lots at a price exceeding € 1,000
will be requested in consultation with the auctioneer to provide a corresponding proof of creditworthiness and/or verifiable references before the auction.

Opening bid and bidding increments

For lots listed in the catalogue, the opening bid will be made at the specified reserve. The bidding increment between € 0 and € 200 is € 10; above this amount, the bidding will continue in increments of about 10%, however, the auctioneer reserves the right to alter the increment. If no bid or only one written bid has been submitted, the opening bid will be made at the reserve. If several written bids have been submitted, the opening bid will be made at about 10% above the second highest written bid. Written bids will only be raised by the amount necessary to exceed the previous bid by one increment (about 10%). This means that you may also buy the lot well below your highest bid. If several bids with the same bid price are received, the order in which the bids were submitted will be decisive.

In the case of “no-reserve auctions”, the auctioneer will start with the highest written bid that may have been received.

Bids below the reserve If your bid is below the reserve indicated in the catalogue, we are obliged to obtain the consignor’s approval. If you are outbid and the lot is sold at the reserve, you will not necessarily be informed. We can usually grant a 10% discount on lots in the post-auction sale.
